About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) / IT Manager at the Oregon Department of Energy is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing information technology strategies that align with statewide objectives. This role involves collaborating with various departments to enhance efficiency, customer satisfaction, and the overall effectiveness of IT resources. The position supports the agency's mission of promoting renewable energy and efficiency while ensuring a modern and secure technology infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Chief Information Officer for the agency.
• Plan and organize short-term and long-range IT strategies and initiatives.
• Collaborate with agency staff to improve efficiency and project delivery.
• Manage and develop technical staff and project management staff.
• Oversee information technology policies, practices, and processes.
• Ensure data security and effective application development.
• Communicate effectively across all levels of the agency.

Requirements

• Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience, or three years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of information technology policies and practices.
• Experience in managing and developing technical staff.
• Strong customer service orientation and responsiveness to customer requirements.
• Knowledge of project management skills and managing large data sets.
• Ability to communicate in business terminology and maintain relationships across the agency.
• Experience in strategic planning and managing change.

• Experience in developing technology consistent with universal accessibility.
