About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Port of Portland is responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for all IT systems and infrastructure. This role focuses on driving digital transformation by aligning IT strategies with business objectives, fostering innovation, operational efficiency, and growth. The CIO will oversee the IT department, ensuring that technology initiatives support the Port's mission and enhance its operational capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee IT infrastructure and operations, ensuring security, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage IT resources to deliver high-quality services and support, integrating best practices in IT governance and information management.
  • Develop and implement a strategic IT vision that aligns with the Port's long-term business goals.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and innovation, ensuring integration with organizational objectives.
  • Lead and champion change management and innovation initiatives, ensuring the successful adoption and integration of new technologies and processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure IT strategies support overall business objectives.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to measure IT effectiveness and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's in computer science, Business Administration, or Information Systems Management is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years in a senior IT leadership role, with a proven track record in leading digital transformation initiatives, managing IT operations, and developing strategic IT roadmaps.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance from TSA required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal laws affecting information infrastructure and technology systems.
  • Experience in both public and private sectors, particularly in industries relevant to the Port's operations.
