About the position

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead and oversee the technology operations across its US offices. The CIO will be responsible for information security, cloud and on-premise infrastructure, end-user support, and mobile device management. This role requires collaboration with attorneys and staff to assess technology needs and ensure alignment with the firm's strategic goals. The CIO will also play a key role in the executive team, working closely with other senior leaders to integrate and support technology priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day technology operations in US offices.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy and roadmap.
  • Establish IT department goals, objectives, milestones, and operating procedures.
  • Ensure IT functions enable business operations and support a unified platform.
  • Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for IT systems.
  • Transition the IT department from a cost center to a profit center.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align IT strategy with business objectives.
  • Maintain regular communication with management and practice leaders regarding IT projects.
  • Lead continuous assessment and improvement of core business processes and systems.
  • Ensure the security posture of the firm and lead efforts for ISO 27001 certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience leading technology teams.
  • Extensive IT experience in the professional services or legal industry.
  • Experience managing information security for a large enterprise.
  • Proven capability in managing large scale technology projects.
  • Strong leadership qualities in critical thinking and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to assess solution architecture and design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree such as an MBA in management information systems.
  • Security Certifications such as CISM or CISSP.
