About the position

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead and oversee the technology operations across its US offices. The CIO will be responsible for information security, cloud and on-premise infrastructure, and end-user support, while collaborating with attorneys and staff to assess and enhance technology services. This role is integral to the firm's executive team, working closely with other senior leaders to align technology priorities with business objectives and ensure a forward-thinking approach to IT services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day technology operations in US offices.
  • Establish a comprehensive technology strategy and roadmap that aligns with the firm's strategic plan.
  • Develop and implement IT department goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Transition the IT department from a cost center to a profit center.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to support top-level practice goals through technology.
  • Maintain a customer-focused IT team and communicate technology's role in business strategy.
  • Lead continuous assessment and improvement of core business processes and systems.
  • Ensure maximum operational uptime of technology solutions and services.
  • Develop and monitor a comprehensive enterprise information security and IT risk management program.
  • Maintain consistent communication across the organization regarding IT initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Advanced degree, such as MBA in management information systems or related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience leading, managing and directing technology teams.
  • Extensive IT experience in the professional services and/or legal industry.
  • Proven capability in managing large scale, firm-wide technology projects centered on business and client enablement.
  • Strong leadership qualities in critical thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and communication.
  • Ability to assess solution architecture and design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Security Certifications, such as CISM or CISSP are preferred but not required.
  • Experience leading and managing information security for a large, distributed enterprise.
