About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will oversee the operational aspects of the Authority-wide information technology (IT) department. This role involves leading the planning and implementation of technology operations to support all business units and operations, ensuring alignment with the Authority's goals. The CIO will be responsible for strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of information and technology systems, while ensuring continuous delivery of IT services through effective oversight and performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Strategic Plan to enhance NFTA's effectiveness.
  • Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, staffing levels, and operating procedures.
  • Lead IT strategic, tactical, and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation and prioritizing IT initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication between staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources.
  • Manage multiple information and communications systems and projects, including voice, data, imaging, and office automation.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate systems that support end users in the productive use of computer hardware and software.
  • Develop and implement user-training programs.
  • Oversee and evaluate backup procedures and supervise the Network Administrator.
  • Support the Authority's digital strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-effective investment in IT operational systems and resources.
  • Track and control the Information Technology annual budget for operations.
  • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts to capitalize on economies of scale.
  • Promote and oversee relationships between IT resources and internal customers and related vendors.
  • Perform additional duties and tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with increasing responsibilities in management and support of information systems and technology.
  • Direct management of a major IT operation is preferred.
  • Experience in a transportation or government setting is desirable, specifically in technology and information systems planning.
  • Experience with both shared and outsourced solutions, as well as in-house information and communication systems in a multi-site client-server environment.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with desktop, notebook, handheld, and server computer hardware.
  • Familiarity with local and wide area network design, implementation, and operation.
  • Knowledge of various office productivity software programs such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheet programs.
  • Familiarity with various computer peripherals such as printers, monitors, and modems.
  • General knowledge of business processes and their interrelationship.
