About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Joliet Junior College (JJC) is a transformative leadership role responsible for driving technology innovation and modernization within the college. The CIO will develop and implement a strategic plan for technology that enhances the student experience and supports the academic mission of the college. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including the executive leadership team, to advocate for the role of IT across the college and bolster information security. The CIO will lead a team of IT professionals, manage a significant operational budget, and ensure that technology initiatives align with the college's goals and the diverse needs of its student population.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic plan for technology across JJC.
  • Advocate for the role of IT across the College.
  • Bolster information security across the College.
  • Evaluate and modernize IT infrastructure across campus.
  • Effectively lead, organize, and invigorate the IT staff.

Requirements

  • A deep understanding of trends in information technology and issues in higher education.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and effective influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, and IT strategic planning skills.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in integrating information systems to support academic and administrative functions.
  • Expertise in budget planning and financial management.
  • Ten years of increasing and broad-based responsibility in IT or a related field.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
