About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Nevada Court System is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the IT division, focusing on strategic planning, development, and implementation of technology solutions that enhance court operations. The CIO will work closely with senior management to align IT strategies with the court's mission and goals, ensuring effective management of IT operations, team development, and compliance with security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the court's strategic plan, mission, and goals.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the IT department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and support.
  • Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to identify and prioritize technology initiatives.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures for IT operations.
  • Ensure effective management of the IT department's daily operations, including infrastructure, applications, security, and support services.
  • Oversee and enhance the court's IT systems and infrastructure, prioritizing reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Develop and manage IT budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to optimize cost-effectiveness and service delivery.
  • Testify before legislative bodies and interface with external entities as required.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Set performance objectives, conduct performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication within the IT department and across the organization.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies and innovative solutions to improve court processes and services.
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of IT projects, ensuring they meet functional requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Serve as staff to the Supreme Court IT Steering Committee and the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada Technology Committee.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their integration into the court's IT landscape.
  • Review the IT Security Team's development and enforcement of IT security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and best practices related to IT and data management.
  • Ensure that the team conducts regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role, preferably in a government or judicial environment.
  • Strong technical background in IT systems, infrastructure, and security management.
  • Excellent management and leadership skills, with a focus on team development and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic IT plans and initiatives.
  • Experience in budget management and vendor relationship optimization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience with court or legal technology systems.
