About the position

The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as Chief Information Officer (CIO). This position is pivotal in leading strategic planning related to all technology and systems required for DANY's operational effectiveness. The CIO will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief of Strategic Operations to drive change that maximizes the value of technology and data, promoting a data-driven culture throughout the organization. This managerial role involves overseeing the IT Division and collaborating with the IT Director to manage staff and resources effectively in a mission-oriented culture that supports the Office's work. The CIO will be responsible for developing and implementing both long and short-term IT strategic plans that align with the Office's mission, goals, priorities, and objectives. This includes contributing to the formulation of the Office's business and digital strategies, determining priorities, and assessing risks for enterprise-wide IT initiatives. The CIO will also work collaboratively with executive leadership to identify and implement technology solutions that align with the DA's vision and comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. In addition, the CIO will drive IT-led change and modernization of the Office's data storage and analytics capabilities, working with the Data Analytics and Research Unit to enhance reporting and analytics capabilities across the office. Oversight of all IT software and solutions acquisition and in-house development projects will be a key responsibility, ensuring that all commitments are properly planned, staffed, monitored, and reported. The CIO will advise executive leadership on IT-related issues and ensure a reliable computing environment for business continuity, cybersecurity, and IT resilience. Effective management of IT customer service, service delivery, timelines, and performance metrics will also be essential to meet service-level requirements. Staying abreast of new trends and technologies in the information technology space, particularly those relevant to prosecutorial technology solutions, will ensure that DANY adopts a forward-thinking approach to technology development and procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Stay updated on new trends and technologies within the information technology space, particularly for prosecutorial technology solutions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role, preferably as a CIO or similar position.
  • Strong understanding of IT strategic planning and implementation.
  • Experience in managing IT projects and overseeing software acquisition and development.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the public sector or with law enforcement agencies.
  • Familiarity with prosecutorial technology solutions and data analytics tools.
  • Advanced degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
