About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Boscov's Department Store will lead the company's IT strategy, focusing on innovation and competitive advantage through technology. This role involves managing a complex environment with both legacy systems and modern technologies, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance while driving digital transformation and enhancing data analytics capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with executive stakeholders to establish and implement IT roadmaps that promote revenue generation and operational efficiency.
• Balance maintenance of critical legacy systems with driving innovation.
• Design and execute an IT Modernization strategy encompassing all facets of IT organization, infrastructure, security, and applications.
• Lead the transition from mainframe to cloud technologies to enhance capabilities and reduce reliance on a narrowing labor market.
• Enhance data analytics capabilities to improve decision-making across the organization.
• Explore AI/ML solutions to optimize inventory management, supply chain, and customer insights.
• Lead a team of approximately 80 members, including direct leadership of 4 technical leaders and 2 administrative team members.
• Develop talent acquisition and retention strategies for supporting both legacy and modern systems.
• Foster a culture of innovation, goal setting, accountability, agility, and continuous learning.
• Evaluate vulnerabilities and identify remediation to protect the company alongside the CISO.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Manage relationships with technology vendors and communicate IT strategy to the board of directors.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role.
• Proven track record of successful large-scale application implementations and technology transformations, preferably in retail or a related industry.
• Experience managing both mainframe and cloud-based systems.
• Strong background in controls, change management, data analytics, AI/ML implementation, and cybersecurity.
• Deep understanding of IBM mainframe technologies and third-party software tools.
• Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of progressive development methodologies like Agile and DevOps.
• Familiarity with retail-specific technologies such as POS and Omni Channel systems.

• Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) certification.
• Certified Chief Information Officer (CCIO) certification.
• TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification.
• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Certified).
• ITIL v4 Foundation or higher certification.
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CRISC, CISSP, CISM).
