About the position

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead and oversee technology operations across its US offices. The CIO will manage information security, cloud and on-premise infrastructure, and end-user support while collaborating with senior staff to align IT services with the firm's strategic goals. This role requires a forward-thinking approach to technology, ensuring that IT functions support business objectives and enhance client experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day technology operations in US offices.
  • Establish a comprehensive technology strategy and roadmap.
  • Develop and implement IT department goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for IT systems.
  • Transition the IT department from a cost center to a profit center.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to support top-level practice goals with technology.
  • Maintain a customer-focused IT team and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Lead continuous assessment and improvement of core business processes and systems.
  • Ensure maximum operational uptime of technology solutions and services.
  • Develop and monitor a comprehensive enterprise information security and IT risk management program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Advanced degree, such as MBA in management information systems or related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience leading technology teams.
  • Security Certifications, such as CISM or CISSP, are preferred but not required.
  • Extensive IT experience in the professional services and/or legal industry.
  • Experience managing information security for a large, distributed enterprise.
  • Proven capability in managing large scale technology projects.
  • Ability to present technical ideas in business-friendly language.
  • Experience in developing and executing IT strategic plans.
  • Strong leadership qualities in critical thinking and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the legal industry is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with agile, scrum, and waterfall methodologies.
