Joliet Junior College (JJC), the first public community college in the United States, is seeking a transformational and creative leader to serve as the next Chief Information Officer (CIO). Founded in 1901, JJC is dedicated to providing a student-centered, career-enabling education to approximately 27,000 students. Located just 40 miles outside of Chicago, the college is recognized for its innovative and accessible educational offerings, emphasizing student learning, community prosperity, cultural enrichment, and inclusion. The student body is notably diverse, with a significant percentage identifying as Hispanic/Latina/o, reflecting the college's commitment to serving a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. The CIO will join JJC at a pivotal moment, as the college is poised for significant technology transformation and modernization. The CIO will be responsible for driving innovation and enhancing the student experience through technology, ensuring that IT supports the broader academic mission of the college. This role requires a strong emphasis on collaboration, relationship building, and transparent communication with the JJC community. Key responsibilities include developing a strategic plan for technology across JJC, advocating for the role of IT within the college, bolstering information security, evaluating and modernizing IT infrastructure, and effectively leading and organizing the IT staff. The CIO will also manage a significant operational budget and oversee the acquisition of hardware and software necessary for the college's computing needs. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of trends in information technology, particularly in the context of higher education, and will demonstrate exceptional leadership and strategic planning skills.
