About the position

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead and oversee technology operations across its US offices. The CIO will manage information security, cloud and on-premise infrastructure, and end-user support while collaborating with senior staff to align IT services with the firm's strategic goals. This role is pivotal in transitioning the IT department from a cost center to a profit center, ensuring that technology enhances business operations and client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day technology operations in US offices, including information security and infrastructure management.
  • Establish a comprehensive technology strategy and roadmap that aligns with the firm's strategic plan.
  • Develop and implement IT department goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Define and communicate corporate plans and standards for IT systems acquisition and operation.
  • Transition the IT department to a profit center, enhancing business operations and client perceptions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align IT strategy with business objectives and practice goals.
  • Maintain a customer-focused IT team and communicate effectively with stakeholders about IT projects.
  • Lead continuous assessment and improvement of core business processes and technology solutions.
  • Ensure maximum operational uptime of technology services and solutions.
  • Develop and monitor a comprehensive enterprise information security and IT risk management program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA in management information systems or related field preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience leading and managing technology teams.
  • Security Certifications (CISM, CISSP preferred but not required).
  • Extensive IT experience in the professional services and/or legal industry.
  • Experience managing information security for a large, distributed enterprise.
  • Proven capability in managing large scale technology projects focused on business enablement.
  • Ability to present technical ideas in business-friendly language.
  • Experience in developing and executing IT strategic plans at the firm level.
  • Strong leadership qualities in critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with agile, scrum, and waterfall development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with service-oriented architecture frameworks.
