About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Delta State University is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the university's information technology services and infrastructure. This role involves strategic planning, evaluating technology needs, and consulting with university leadership to enhance academic and operational efficiency through innovative IT solutions. The CIO will develop a strong data governance model, ensure IT security, and lead significant infrastructure transformations to support the university's mission and strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a university-wide strategic vision for information technology services and solutions.
  • Develop and organize on-campus talent to meet the strategic vision while ensuring exceptional support and service.
  • Manage budgetary planning and operational budgets for the Office of Information Technology.
  • Cultivate a culture that anticipates how technology can support faculty, students, and staff.
  • Ensure appropriate policies and procedures across all facets of information technology.
  • Develop an analytics environment to support data-informed decision-making and compliance reporting.
  • Prevent IT security threats and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Enhance the information technology governance structure for efficient project management.
  • Strengthen collaboration across campus-wide IT systems for shared efficiencies.
  • Identify, manage, and report information technology risks.
  • Oversee planning, project management, analysis, design, and implementation of software applications.
  • Lead significant infrastructure transformation across the enterprise.
  • Support Delta State's online technical requirements and systems.
  • Develop and implement an organizational model for exceptional service and support.
  • Create communication plans to update university leadership on IT initiatives.
  • Represent the university on various committees and councils regarding information technology.

Requirements

  • Over ten (10) years of progressively relevant information systems/technology experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leading a higher educational institution's IT department.
  • Demonstrated administrative management experience, including supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • A master's degree in business administration or information technology.
