About the position

Umovity is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead our information security initiatives. The CISO will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive security strategy that aligns with our organizational goals and regulatory requirements. This role requires close collaboration with top management to ensure that security objectives meet customer needs and are economically feasible. The CISO will also contribute to the continuous development of our Information Security Management System (ISMS), ensuring that it remains robust and effective in addressing emerging threats. In this position, the CISO will play a crucial role in training and raising awareness among employees about IT security risks and the measures necessary to mitigate them. The successful candidate will work closely with international stakeholders across various departments, including product development, IT, Legal, HR, and Procurement, to implement the security strategy effectively. Compliance with industry standards and regulations, such as ISO 27001 and GDPR, will be a key focus area, and the CISO will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating incident response processes to handle security incidents swiftly and effectively. The CISO will also be tasked with measuring, collecting, and reporting key performance indicators related to security aspects, including technology, organization, and development. Building and managing relationships with external security vendors and service providers will be essential to ensure that Umovity remains at the forefront of security trends and technology solutions. Staying updated with the latest security threats and trends will be critical to the success of this role, as will the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the security strategy in close coordination with top management, aligning security objectives with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to and continuously develop the Information Security Management System (ISMS).
  • Train and raise awareness among employees regarding IT security risks and measures.
  • Work closely with international stakeholders from product development, IT, Legal, HR, and Procurement to implement the security strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Monitor and coordinate incident response processes and teams to handle security incidents quickly and effectively.
  • Measure, collect, and report key performance indicators for relevant security aspects (technology, organization, development).
  • Manage relationships with external security vendors and service providers.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technology solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be located in the U.S., Germany, or Poland.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a comparable qualification.
  • Several years of professional experience in IT security, preferably in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of network security, data encryption, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, application security, and secure software development practices.
  • Experience in developing and implementing security strategies in an international and hybrid team.
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured, solution-oriented approach to work.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; fluent German is a big plus.
