About the position

The Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMCO) at iCivics is a pivotal role that reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is a key member of the executive team. This position is designed for a dynamic leader who will be responsible for executing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that promote and amplify the iCivics brand across multiple platforms. The CMCO will lead all external communications for iCivics, oversee the marketing operations, and ensure the successful launch of a new brand aimed at igniting a passion for civic learning among educators and students alike. This role is crucial in fostering timely and consistent internal communication to create awareness of plans and initiatives throughout the organization. In this capacity, the CMCO will collaborate closely with iCivics leadership and other key stakeholders to set the vision for the Communications and Marketing Team. This includes managing media relations, social media strategies, marketing elements of the iCivics websites, and overseeing creative and strategic communications efforts. The CMCO will be instrumental in promoting and managing the organization’s brand reputation, which is considered its most valuable asset. The successful candidate will develop, integrate, and implement a wide range of public relations activities that align with the strategic direction and positioning of iCivics and its leadership. Additionally, the CMCO will be responsible for building and expanding partnerships and will act as an ambassador for the organization. This role aims to advance iCivics' position with relevant constituents and drive broader awareness and support for the importance of its mission and civic education overall. The CMCO will play a critical role in catalyzing a movement to prioritize civic education in the United States, demonstrating its impact on sustaining and strengthening the nation’s constitutional democracy.

Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies to promote the iCivics brand.

Requirements

  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Strong understanding of media relations and social media management.
