About the position

The Chief Marketing and Sales Officer (CMSO) at the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation (TRMF) will play a pivotal role in leading the marketing and sales departments within the organization. This executive position requires a dynamic leader who is not only passionate about the Medora area and the North Dakota Badlands but also possesses a strong background in marketing and sales. The CMSO will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies that enhance brand visibility and customer engagement. This includes utilizing various media channels such as paid and trade media, social media, print, and video to effectively communicate the TRMF's mission and vision. In addition to marketing responsibilities, the CMSO will oversee the sales team, providing leadership and motivation to ensure that sales quotas are met. This role involves collaborating with executive leadership to develop sales strategies and quotas, managing customer relationships, and analyzing sales data to identify new market opportunities. The CMSO will also be responsible for preparing and monitoring the department's operating budget, ensuring that all marketing and sales efforts align with the organization's growth plans. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule and be an effective communicator, capable of storytelling through various multimedia formats. They will lead the marketing team to achieve TRMF's goals, manage relationships with advertising agencies, and ensure that all marketing initiatives are executed effectively. The CMSO will also be the point of contact for crisis communication and will represent the organization at trade shows and conventions, preparing engaging displays and collateral as needed. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans utilizing various media channels.
  • Lead the marketing team to achieve TRMF's desired success.
  • Identify new market segments that will benefit from TRMF products.
  • Prepare effective advertising campaigns based on market research.
  • Maintain knowledge on emerging products and services.
  • Collaborate with senior executives to develop growth plans for the organization.
  • Forecast, draft, implement, and oversee the department's operating budget.
  • Manage the development of marketing strategy in collaboration with clients and partners.
  • Manage conception, development, and implementation of marketing plans and promotional programs.
  • Manage and develop digital marketing strategies for product introductions.
  • Lead email marketing efforts utilizing testing methods for best results.
  • Monitor digital analytics to ensure ROI justifies the spend.
  • Ensure the website is current, accurate, and effective.
  • Attend conventions, conferences, and trade shows, preparing engaging displays and collateral.
  • Expertly tell stories through multimedia production including video, photo, written, and audio content.
  • Collaborate with the Development Director on philanthropic marketing.
  • Lead communications for TRMF accomplishments and organizational announcements through news releases.
  • Manage relationships with advertising agencies for effective campaign execution.
  • Assume point of contact for TRMF crisis communication plan and media inquiries.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Provide leadership to the sales team and motivate them to meet quotas.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop sales quotas and strategies.
  • Manage relationships and communicate with customers to grow sales.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff to review pipeline and resolve challenges.
  • Go into the field to seek, contact, and negotiate with potential customers.
  • Review and analyze sales and operational records and reports.
  • Identify and analyze customer preferences to direct sales efforts appropriately.
  • Consult with potential customers to understand their needs and suggest appropriate products.
  • Resolve customer complaints and staffing problems that interfere with sales operations.
  • Prepare sales budget and monitor expenses.
  • Represent the company at trade association meetings.
  • Utilize Salesforce to document sales activity and provide weekly reports.
