About the position

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at UNFCU leads global consumer-based marketing efforts, focusing on the integration of AI and digital marketing strategies to deliver relevant financial solutions tailored to various life stages of a global membership. This role requires a strategic thinker with a global perspective and a proven track record in communications, public relations, and the successful execution of go-to-market strategies that enhance brand presence and increase market share. The CMO will partner effectively with business line leaders to achieve shared business objectives and ensure an exceptional member experience. As a member of UNFCU's Executive Management Team, the CMO will participate in the development and execution of the overall strategic plan of the credit union, playing a key role in driving financial growth while fostering a rewarding work environment and developing a high-performing leadership team. This position is expected to be hybrid, with a salary range of $250,000 - $350,000 annually, commensurate with geographic location.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold UNFCU's mission, core values, and guiding principles by providing exceptional service to colleagues and members.
  • Participate in establishing and implementing long-term business direction for the credit union and developing key strategic and tactical plans.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the overall credit union purpose, vision, mission, and business plans to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies incorporating AI and digital marketing tools to analyze data and personalize member interactions.
  • Oversee communications and public relations efforts to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment across all channels.
  • Execute innovative go-to-market strategies to effectively introduce products and services to diverse markets.
  • Build and maintain a strong brand presence using an omnichannel approach, leveraging digital platforms for member engagement.
  • Lead the Marketing team with a focus on continuous learning, agility, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate marketing strategies with company-wide initiatives.
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring alignment with financial objectives and strong ROI.
  • Identify and manage third-party vendors for cost-effective services where needed.
  • Provide direction to the Marketing Research & Analytics team for actionable insights from member segmentation data.
  • Champion Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) and social impact objectives, leading with purpose and ethical consideration.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and UNFCU's Code of Ethics & Business Conduct.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of marketing experience in the financial services industry, with at least 10 years in a senior/executive leadership role; MBA preferred.
  • Expertise in AI and digital marketing technologies, with a strong understanding of data analytics and customer relationship management systems.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Knowledge of consumer financial services product offerings.
  • Exceptional communication and public relations skills, with experience managing media relations and corporate communications.
  • Proven success in developing and executing go-to-market strategies and brand-building campaigns for a global customer base.
  • Knowledgeable about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aligning marketing strategies with sustainability objectives.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience guiding teams towards achieving strategic marketing objectives.
  • Strong collaborative skills with peers and the ability to gain consensus among multiple stakeholders.
  • Customer-centric mindset, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multilingual in English and any of the official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Russian) is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to various UN duty stations or UNFCU Representative Offices as needed.
