About the position

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at the Lyndon B Johnson School of Public Affairs will lead the communications team to enhance the school's marketing and communications strategies. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to promote the school's initiatives, manage the communication office's budget, and develop content strategies that align with the school's goals. The CMO will also oversee the execution of marketing strategies for student recruitment and brand development, ensuring effective communication across digital channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of marketing and creative professionals to support the LBJ School's marketing goals.
  • Serve as a member of the University Marketing and Communications (UMAC) leadership team.
  • Build strong partnerships and collaborate with other communications directors and stakeholders across campus.
  • Plan and manage the communication office budget and assets.
  • Monitor national trends in public affairs and evaluate competitive programs.
  • Drive content strategy for key campaigns and oversee the creation of print, digital, and social media content.
  • Develop and implement a digital strategy and technology roadmap for cohesive constituent experiences.
  • Work with the Dean's office on special communication deliverables such as speeches and reports.
  • Collaboratively create and execute integrated marketing strategies for the school's programs.
  • Use data and metrics to evaluate and adapt marketing strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of successful marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic communications plans.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, manage details of concurrent projects, and work under pressure.
  • Proven experience in media relations, stakeholder communications, and social media strategy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or higher in communications, marketing, business, or a related field.
  • More than ten years of leadership experience in a higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with audience groups including undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
