About the position

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Banner Payson Medical Center is a part-time leadership role responsible for overseeing medical management and improving clinical care and patient safety. This position involves collaboration with physicians and leaders to enhance the health and wellness of the Payson community, ensuring high-quality care delivery across various medical services offered by the facility. The CMO will guide the development and implementation of medical policies and practices while fostering a service-oriented culture focused on employee engagement and patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and administration of medical management.
  • Integrate, coordinate, and improve clinical care and patient safety.
  • Develop and implement medical policies, practices, and clinical programs.
  • Promote quality improvement concepts and establish effective relationships with physician stakeholders.
  • Participate in care management activities to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes.
  • Lead and support staff development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements in clinical services and patient throughput.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to develop and maintain comprehensive clinical services.
  • Promote financial stewardship and clinical excellence in operations.
  • Serve as a liaison among facilities, medical staff, and external organizations.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctorate or Doctor of Osteopathy Degree required.
  • Board Certification or eligibility preferred.
  • Five years of experience in clinical practice.
  • Current and unrestricted State license to practice medicine.
  • Three years of medical staff leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience as a physician leader in a large multi-specialty group or hospital system.
  • Knowledge of hospital technology, quality, and patient safety trends.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience within a multi-unit hospital system.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
