About the position

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Arkansas Children's Northwest (ACNW) Hospital is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing medical services, ensuring high-quality patient care, and driving program development and operational excellence. The CMO will split their time between administrative duties (approximately 75%) and clinical responsibilities (approximately 25%), playing a pivotal role in advancing care delivery capabilities and improving operational processes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and advance care delivery capabilities at ACNW.
  • Collaborate with leaders to improve operational processes and enhance quality and safety.
  • Engage in program development and growth initiatives.
  • Ensure evidence-based guidelines are developed and implemented.
  • Assist with customer service improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate physician recruitment strategies.
  • Align access to services with patient care and operations leaders.
  • Participate in operational and capital budget planning and monitoring.
  • Serve as the primary medical liaison to community physicians.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, MD/PhD or equivalent required.
  • Board certified in pediatrics or a pediatric sub-specialty required.
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of Arkansas.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience as a clinician required.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of physician leadership experience required.
  • Strong quality and safety background.
  • Proven track record in advancing clinical care delivery.
  • Experience in executing quality improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing process improvement.
  • Outstanding communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate degree in business, healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality Certification preferred.
  • Certified Physician Executive preferred.
  • Experience in building and/or growing regional clinical programs in a competitive healthcare market.
