Leidos is seeking a Chief Network Design Engineer to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team at Ft. Meade, MD. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your technical expertise and leadership skills to facilitate the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) migration to the Department of Defense's Fourth Estate (DoD 4th Estate) agencies into a Common Use information technology (IT) infrastructure. The Leidos team will deliver comprehensive Network Infrastructure services that will support the transition, infrastructure, network operations and management, engineering and innovation, cybersecurity services, and technical refresh for a Single Service Provider (SSP) network environment catering to all 4th Estate users. As a Chief Network Design Engineer, you will be responsible for providing Subject Matter Expertise in network design, integration, testing, security, and implementation of Network Services for DISA DoDNet. You will utilize your extensive knowledge of network engineering and operations to implement large-scale enterprise network solutions and transition them to Network Operations, while also engaging in test and evaluation activities. Your role will involve performing highly technical maintenance on network devices such as routers, switches, security solutions, and WANX, as well as overseeing the management of a team of 5+ direct reports. You will be tasked with proposing innovative solutions to Network Domain Architects to define and continuously improve various aspects of network operations, including configuration baselines, automation effectiveness, and service improvements. Additionally, you will evaluate network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements, while planning and executing network upgrades and maintenance activities in collaboration with key stakeholders. As the senior Tier III escalation support engineer, you will also develop and maintain technical documents, analyses, and reports, and actively participate in Root Cause Analysis for Problem Management activities.
