About the position

The Chief of Communication and Marketing for the School District of Beloit is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the district's communications and marketing strategies. This position aims to enhance the district's visibility, engage stakeholders, and promote transparency and accountability through effective messaging and branding. The Chief will lead the development and execution of innovative communication strategies that support academic achievement and foster community relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement proactive and strategic communications that advance the interests and success of the School District of Beloit.
  • Lead the creation of compelling content across various platforms, ensuring high-quality copywriting that resonates with target audiences.
  • Manage the company's online presence through platforms such as WordPress and social media channels.
  • Foster relationships with the media and serve as a spokesperson for the district when necessary.
  • Work closely with district leadership to identify other spokespeople when needed.
  • Direct the content and user experience of the district's digital, social, and web presence, ensuring quality and message alignment.
  • Oversee internal communication and engagement programming for the district's employees, ensuring timely and transparent communication of key messages.
  • Monitor, develop and implement new communications channels and technologies, leveraging innovative digital platforms.
  • Create and execute a dedicated social media strategy to engage stakeholders and tell the district's story.
  • Build and track metrics for measuring success of messaging campaigns and communication channels.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in marketing or a directly related field of study.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in communications for a similar-sized institution or organization.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience leading media relations and/or brand management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success in leading communications and change management programs for large organizations.
  • Proficiency in WordPress for website management and content updates.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite for design purposes is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with various software tools including Audacity and Buzzsprout.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Facebook Meta, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • Ability to nurture positive relationships with administration, staff, families, and community members.
