About the position

The Chief of Compliance will oversee the legal affairs and compliance activities of a global electronics manufacturing corporation. This role involves developing and implementing compliance policies, monitoring regulatory changes, and ensuring adherence to various laws and regulations. The Chief of Compliance will also manage customer service policies, environmental compliance, and corporate governance, while collaborating with external legal counsel and representing the company in industry lobby groups.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise compliance policies and procedures in areas such as antitrust, customs, and environmental regulations.
  • Identify compliance vulnerabilities and implement corrective action plans.
  • Monitor compliance activities across departments and advise on new regulations.
  • Maintain and update information security policies related to PCI compliance.
  • Review advertising and PR materials for compliance with FTC guidelines.
  • Develop programs to meet government initiatives related to customs and trade.
  • Implement customer complaint handling procedures in accordance with FTC requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding toxic substances and labeling laws.
  • Work with management on pricing programs to ensure compliance with antitrust laws.
  • Draft and review various business agreements and contracts.
  • Manage immigration matters including visa applications and renewals.
  • Oversee property, casualty, and cargo insurance and risk management.
  • Review and manage building and equipment leases.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel to resolve litigation matters.
  • Represent the company in industry lobby groups and associations.
  • Support patent infringement matters and coordinate litigation efforts.
  • Monitor purchasing policies to ensure proper vendor selection and documentation.
  • Work with outside counsel on trademark violations and research new trademarks.
  • Draft and review internet and website agreements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Seven to ten years of related experience in compliance or legal affairs.
  • Advanced degree may substitute for some experience.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance regulations and legal standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PCI compliance and information security policies.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance initiatives.
  • Knowledge of customs and trade compliance programs.
