About the position

The Chief of Staff / Administration at the Institute of Computation Science will play a pivotal role in supporting the mission of Altos, which is to restore cell health and resilience through cell rejuvenation to reverse disease, injury, and disabilities. This position is designed for a strategic and trusted partner to the Institute Director and other leaders within the organization. The successful candidate will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment that emphasizes teamwork, transparency, scientific excellence, and integrity. The Chief of Staff will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Institute of Computation (IoC), providing executive-level advising, project leadership, and facilitation while being a key cross-functional collaborator. In this role, the Chief of Staff will participate in the development and execution of IoC's overall strategic plan and growth strategy, working closely with the Institute Director and the leadership team. The incumbent will be responsible for influencing others, adapting quickly, and thinking creatively in a fast-paced environment. They will collaborate across multiple internal functions, prioritize activities based on impact and strategic goals, and serve as a key partner to corporate groups to facilitate cross-Altos initiatives and communications. The Chief of Staff will also manage financials, budgets, and workforce plans in partnership with the Finance and People teams, ensuring optimized efficiency and productivity within the organization. They will lead critical projects, communicate project statuses to stakeholders, and act as a culture catalyst, guiding the implementation of Altos Values and Behaviors within the IoC. This role requires strong communication skills to engage with senior leaders and build key relationships across the organization. Additionally, the Chief of Staff will prepare and present relevant institute data, manage meeting agendas, and oversee the IoC administrative team, ensuring a positive and productive experience for all involved.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Institute of Computation (IoC)
  • Provide executive-level advising, project leadership, execution, and facilitation as a key cross-functional collaborator
  • Participate in the development, execution, and achievement of IoC's overall strategic plan and growth strategy
  • Influence others and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate across multiple internal functions and prioritize activities based on impact and strategic goals
  • Serve as a key partner to corporate groups to facilitate cross Altos initiatives and communications
  • Problem-solve, create processes, and execute business operations tasks
  • Manage financials, budget, and workforce plans in partnership with Finance and People teams
  • Coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity
  • Lead, oversee, and/or manage critical projects and communicate project status to stakeholders
  • Act as a culture catalyst guiding the implementation of Altos Values and Behaviors
  • Prepare and present relevant institute data, progress, roadmaps, and strategic priorities
  • Assist the Institute Director in preparing meeting materials and vision papers
  • Manage materials for the Institute Director and respond to inquiries on their behalf
  • Lead employee onboarding, experience, and events
  • Keep the Institute Director updated with developments across teams and projects
  • Manage external speakers and Institute events
  • Develop and manage the IoC administrative team

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in similar roles
  • People/Team leadership experience
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes and technology

  • Strong organization and multitasking skills with a sense of urgency

  • Advanced knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working in Biotech / Life Sciences preferred
