About the position

The Chief of Staff at BCFS Health and Human Services (BCFS HHS) plays a pivotal role in supporting the President of the organization by overseeing various operational and strategic initiatives. This position requires a unique blend of leadership, strategic thinking, and operational expertise, aimed at advancing the mission of the organization and enhancing the health and well-being of individuals and communities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, organizational development, and performance management, with a minimum of six years of experience, including three years in a supervisory role at the executive level. The Chief of Staff will represent the President in meetings, provide oversight of direct reports, and collaborate on strategic program growth initiatives. This role involves assisting leadership in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation, as well as reviewing and designing improvements to the organizational structure. The Chief of Staff will also be responsible for optimizing processes and coordinating organizational procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity. In addition to operational oversight, the Chief of Staff will be tasked with achieving quality assurance operational objectives by identifying and resolving problems, completing audits, and implementing necessary changes. Building and developing relationships with staff to increase efficiency and responsiveness is crucial, as is keeping the President informed about the organization's climate, including staff well-being and project statuses. The role requires preparing reports, proposals, and presentations on institutional and strategic issues, and working closely with management leaders on the development and implementation of new projects. The Chief of Staff will evaluate programs and projects, identify gaps, and propose growth opportunities, ensuring that all contracts are monitored and deliverables tracked. This position is essential for the overall success of BCFS HHS, as it directly impacts the quality of services provided and the organization's ability to meet its mission.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the President of BCFS HHS in meetings as required and backfill for the President in their absence.
  • Serve as a direct extension of the President providing oversight of direct reports and with delegated authority.
  • Collaborate on strategic program growth initiatives, program development, implementation, and stabilization.
  • Assist and communicate with leadership in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation.
  • Review, design, and execute improvements to organizational structure, identifying and addressing knowledge and skills gaps.
  • Improve current processes and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.
  • Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by identifying and resolving problems, completing audits, and implementing changes.
  • Build and develop relationships with all staff for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness into existing operations, and help define new operational strategies, working with Executive Directors on special projects.
  • Take on projects, internal communication, attending to staff needs, ensuring any problems are resolved.
  • Keep the President informed on current organizational climate (staff well-being, project statuses, new proposals, etc.).
  • Prepare and/or contribute to the preparation of reports, proposals, briefings, and presentations on institutional and strategic issues.
  • Work closely with management leaders on the development and implementation of new projects, tracking planning, implementation, deliverables, and resources of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Evaluate programs and projects, identifying gaps and areas for increasing efficiency in processes and procedures, reporting and outcomes.
  • Assist with developing Project Specialist Teams and other related programs, deployment strategies, and procedures, providing feedback to the President.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technical communication, business administration, organizational development, non-profit management, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of six years' experience with three years' experience in project management.
  • Experience in organizational development, capacity building, and performance management.
  • Minimum of three years direct executive level management & supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Ability to effectively manage crises and navigate challenging situations with diplomacy and integrity.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and establish collaborations with professionals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting strategies as needed to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, performance measurement, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Ability to research and analyze various clinical outcomes for quality assurance and training needs.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a clear record.
  • Clear criminal background check.

  • Experience in managing social service programs operations is highly desirable.
