About the position

As Chief of Staff to the CTO at Checkr, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the productivity of the CTO and streamlining strategic initiatives across the Engineering and Data organization. This position involves program management of large-scale engineering projects and innovations in Data and AI, requiring a deep understanding of engineering functions and exceptional skills in planning, communication, and team alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CTO to prioritize and manage key initiatives that align with the company's strategic goals.
  • Oversee and drive large-scale engineering projects and initiatives, ensuring they are executed efficiently, on time, and within scope and budget.
  • Facilitate and coordinate cross-departmental efforts, acting as a bridge between engineering teams and other organizational functions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external communications on behalf of the CTO, drafting reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the engineering operations.
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems for program progress, risks, issues, and outcomes; provide regular updates to the CTO and executive leadership.
  • Assist in managing resource allocation, including budgeting and prioritization, to optimize the engineering department's productivity.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of engineering team performance metrics and impact, offering insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role, such as a program manager, project manager, or a senior engineering lead role within a technology company.
  • 10+ years in project management methodologies and tools, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and execution, with a track record of driving large-scale initiatives from inception to completion.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to work collaboratively across functions and build consensus among diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
