About the position

The Chief of Staff for Finance at Citi plays a crucial role in supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in managing day-to-day operations and executing strategic projects within the Finance organization. This senior position involves collaboration with the Finance leadership team and other senior leaders to enhance the effectiveness of financial management and operations. The Chief of Staff will oversee a small team, manage administrative activities, and ensure alignment with key priorities while driving talent management and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Business Management activities including providing financial, operational, and administrative oversight for the Finance organization.
  • Track progress of initiatives against Finance's strategy and report on key performance measures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to shape and distill analyses of issues for CFO review, continuously monitor and anticipate the competitive landscape.
  • Analyze and synthesize information to make informed decisions and draft correspondence and presentations on behalf of the CFO.
  • Anticipate and manage the preparation of meetings and events, drive agendas for staff meetings, team offsites, earnings, and CEO business reviews.
  • Support the CFO in executing strategic projects, organizing strategy offsites, and preparing materials for presentations to the Executive Management Team, Board, and regulators.
  • Advise and collaborate with CFO and Finance Leadership team on key decisions, projects, and crisis management.
  • Own key Finance talent-related programs including strategy and oversight of execution.
  • Prepare the CFO for town halls, site visits, and community outreach, ensuring impactful interactions.
  • Partner with Human Resources on performance and promotion processes and DEI initiatives as requested by CFO.
  • Manage comprehensive communications strategy covering both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage ad hoc and special projects as required by the CFO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA desired.
  • At least 15 years' experience in operational/financial group and business management mindset.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, project management, analytical and organizational skills, and strong financial acumen.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues and partners at all levels.
  • Acts with curiosity and takes the initiative to identify problems, offer creative solutions, and resolve issues.
  • Integrative thinking with the ability to connect the dots across businesses, functions, and geographies to drive outcomes.
  • Adept at quickly synthesizing and distilling complex information and ability to prioritize and multi-task across a wide range of issues.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship builder and collaborator with the ability to influence and maintain effective working relationships across a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated development, planning, and tracking of an organization's short-term and long-term strategic plans.
  • Discretion and sound judgment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
