About the position

The Chief of Staff, Global Legal will act as a vital partner to the Chief Legal Officer and the Global Legal leadership team, focusing on the development and execution of strategic plans to achieve departmental goals. This role involves leading the planning and coordination of transformational activities within the Global Legal department, ensuring effective project management and addressing any obstacles that may arise. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and analytical skills, with a focus on outcomes and interpersonal effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically plan and orchestrate the execution of the Chief Legal Officer's daily activities relating to legal transformation initiatives.
  • Identify and build coalitions of key stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to the Chief Legal Officer in managing legal transformation initiatives.
  • Coordinate activities and calendars with the Chief Legal Officer's Executive Assistant.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of corporate legal trends and the regulatory landscape.
  • Facilitate the Global Legal leadership team's routines and prepare materials for various meetings and presentations.
  • Foster strong relationships with key members of the Global Legal and Global Compliance & Ethics departments.
  • Assist in the legal Pivot to Growth focus areas and coordinate with heads of Legal Centers of Excellence.
  • Bridge communication gaps between the Chief Legal Officer and other stakeholders.
  • Track performance and progress on legal transformation priorities and identify performance risks.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues between legal verticals and across functional lines.
  • Analyze market intelligence to advise the Global Legal leadership team.
  • Lead cross-legal strategic projects as needed.
  • Represent the Chief Legal Officer in meetings and serve as a liaison between functional areas.
  • Enable a positive work environment and high-performing culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field; JD and/or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in strategic planning and facilitation, preferably in a Chief of Staff role.
  • Life sciences background with experience in generics, biosimilars, and innovative pharmaceutical products.
  • Strong strategic agility and business acumen with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in navigating ambiguity and adapting to a changing environment.
  • Ability to craft and deliver clear communication and presentations.
  • Expertise in project management principles and practices.
  • High understanding of technology concepts and proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
