The Chief of Staff position for an ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) family in Houston, TX, is a full-time role focused on managing all household operations and staff. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who excels in creating structure and implementing effective systems within the family office. The Chief of Staff will serve as the central point of contact for both the principals and household staff, ensuring seamless communication and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will be adept at leveraging technology to enhance productivity and decision-making, while also fostering strong relationships with family members to understand their individual needs and goals. In this role, the Chief of Staff will be responsible for identifying and implementing the necessary systems and structures that facilitate efficient family office operations. This includes recruiting top-tier individuals for various roles within the office, ensuring that all staff are proficient in relevant software and tools. The Chief of Staff will also create sustainability and continuity in family office processes, ensuring quality control of information and communication to minimize reactivity. Regular team meetings will be facilitated to maintain alignment and collaboration among staff, and technology training will be provided to enhance overall efficiency. The Chief of Staff will coordinate travel arrangements, events, and lifestyle management for the family, while also conducting regular technology audits to identify areas for improvement. A key aspect of this role is to implement a succession plan for critical roles, ensuring continuity and reducing the impact of transitions within the office. The Chief of Staff will liaise with family attorneys and financial advisors to ensure alignment between the family and external partners, and will consistently align with Empower CoS, sharing relevant information with the family as needed. This position also involves attending meetings and events on behalf of the principals, ensuring timely follow-up on all action items, and creating a positive work environment that fosters job satisfaction and loyalty among staff.

Responsibilities

  • Track performance, research new solutions, and escalate progress or issues when necessary

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional experience in operating in a similar role within a family office environment
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or other advanced degree preferred
  • Legal to work in US
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
