About the position

The Chief of Staff to the Head of CTO Infrastructure at Bloomberg L.P. plays a pivotal role in the technical arm of the company, which is responsible for envisioning, designing, and prototyping the next generation of infrastructure, hardware, and applications. This position requires a multifaceted approach, as the Chief of Staff will need to facilitate conflict resolution, tackle major strategic challenges, and represent leadership in their absence. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter with a technical background, capable of providing strategic thought leadership and leading projects with minimal guidance. Attention to detail is crucial, as the Chief of Staff will be expected to direct a team of senior leaders to develop and execute strategies based on high-level goals. In this role, the Chief of Staff must possess exceptional communication skills, adept at distilling complex information into clear presentations, writing memos, and engaging with senior leaders both in one-on-one settings and larger audiences. The position demands a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can adapt to a rapidly evolving political environment, create necessary processes, and help dismantle silos within a newly formed department. Building trust with leaders and stakeholders across the company is essential for success. The Chief of Staff will act as the right-hand person and trusted advisor to the head of CTO Infrastructure, ensuring smooth departmental operations in their absence and providing leadership and direction as needed. Identifying opportunities for operational improvement and driving strategic initiatives will be key responsibilities. Additionally, the Chief of Staff will manage communication pipelines, collaborating with stakeholders and leadership to promote departmental strategies and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Act as the right-hand person and trusted advisor to the head of CTO Infrastructure.
• Ensure smooth departmental operations in the absence of the head of CTO Infrastructure.
• Identify opportunities to improve departmental operations and drive strategic initiatives.
• Build strong partnerships with administrative and operations team members.
• Manage communication pipelines and promote departmental strategies and outcomes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a technical strategic leadership role working directly with senior leaders.
• Experience in an engineering role.
• Experience operating through influence; direct people management experience is a plus.
• A consistent track record of managing multiple priorities in a rapidly changing work environment.
• Demonstrated polished written and oral communication skills in various circumstances.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience in a technology company.

• Experience with strategic infrastructure technology development and lifecycle.

• Information security experience, especially exposure to operational programs.
