About the position

The Sr. Director of Legal, Risk & Compliance at TransUnion is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategy, planning, and operations of the Legal, Risk, and Compliance (LRC) Department. This position reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and serves as the primary advisor on the management of the LRC Department. The role involves executing strategic priorities, managing departmental communications, and overseeing budget management, while fostering strong relationships across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management and direction of the strategy, planning, and legal operations functions for the LRC Department.
  • Serve as the primary senior advisor to the CLO on day-to-day management of the LRC Department.
  • Define and execute the annual strategic three-year plan for the LRC Department.
  • Lead key enterprise initiatives and drive performance against departmental goals.
  • Manage all LRC communications and personnel engagement endeavors, including CLO communications and global town halls.
  • Collaborate with the CLO and Corporate Secretary on Board planning and reporting.
  • Own the human resources and personnel allocation strategy for the LRC Department.
  • Manage the global budgets of the LRC Department, including vendor engagements and outside counsel relationships.
  • Provide proactive legal counsel to stakeholders and maintain confidentiality of company-related business.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
  • 12+ years of experience as a practicing attorney with strong commercial, regulatory, and strategic experience.
  • Ability to work closely and independently in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and handle a significant workflow effectively and timely.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build trusted-partner relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Prior executive experience or experience with strategy, planning, and operations, particularly with annual budgets up to $100M.
