About the position

The Chief of Staff for the Maryland Office of the Inspector General for Health plays a crucial role in supporting the Inspector General in managing the office's daily operations and special projects. This position serves as a key advisor and communication link between the Inspector General and the office staff, overseeing essential programs related to communications, legislative affairs, organizational development, internal controls, budget, human resources, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) initiatives. The Chief of Staff's work is vital to maintaining the integrity of the Maryland Department of Health and ensuring that its standards benefit the citizens of Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Inspector General in day-to-day operations of the Office of the Inspector General.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and communication link between the Inspector General and OIGH staff and stakeholders.
  • Oversee key programs including communications, legislative affairs, organizational development, internal controls, budget, and human resources.
  • Manage Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) programs.
  • Ensure confidentiality and impartiality in conducting duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Six years of experience in administrative staff or professional work, including three years in professional health services work.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Master's degree may substitute for two years of required general experience.
