About the position

The Chief of Staff at the Maryland Office of Inspector General for Health plays a crucial role in supporting the Inspector General in the daily operations of the office. This position is responsible for maintaining confidentiality and impartiality while overseeing key programs such as communications, legislative affairs, organizational development, internal controls, budget, human resources, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) initiatives. The Chief of Staff serves as a trusted advisor and a vital communication link between the Inspector General and the office staff, contributing to the mission of protecting the integrity of the Maryland Department of Health and promoting beneficial standards for citizens and program beneficiaries.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Inspector General in day-to-day operations of the Office of the Inspector General.
  • Oversee key programs including communications, legislative affairs, and organizational development.
  • Manage internal controls, budget, and human resources functions.
  • Lead Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) programs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and communication link between the Inspector General and staff/stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Six years of experience in administrative staff or professional work, including three years in professional health services work.
  • Experience in evaluating, analyzing, researching, and developing health care policies, legislation, or programs.
  • Two years of supervisory experience over other employees.
  • A master's degree may substitute for two years of required general experience.
