About the position

At Lyft, our mission is to improve people's lives with the world's best transportation. To do this, we start with our own community by creating an open, inclusive, and diverse organization. The Chief of Staff, reporting to the Chief Policy Officer (CPO), will serve as a trusted strategic advisor, playing a key role in advancing our most critical initiatives while driving operational effectiveness for the Policy team. This includes owning planning, budgeting, headcount management, and team coordination. The ideal candidate is a master of cross-functional leadership, a practiced decision-maker, determined problem solver, and is highly capable of navigating competing demands and priorities while executing the strategic priorities of the CPO. The Chief of Staff will lead day-to-day operations and strategic planning, which encompasses administrative approvals, task management, prioritizing meeting schedules, preparing and reviewing materials for executives, developing weekly and quarterly reports, overseeing annual planning and budgeting, and continuously monitoring organizational design. A thorough understanding of Product, Operations, Legal, Finance, and overall strategic needs of the company is essential. The Chief of Staff will drive the priorities of the CPO by leading weekly team meetings, organizing and running team offsites, and identifying opportunities to increase leadership team effectiveness. In addition, the Chief of Staff will serve as a strategic thought partner to the CPO and Public Policy leadership team, maintaining a pulse on team morale and culture by being the eyes and ears of the CPO within the organization. This role will involve developing informal and formal feedback loops to identify unmet team needs, identifying and leading special projects to ensure that new, unanticipated, or emerging issues do not fall through the cracks, and communicating priorities, activities, and results to the larger organization while ensuring deliverables are met. The Chief of Staff will also help build a successful and healthy organization by finding knowledge and skills gaps, designing optimal workflows, and aligning internal processes. Gathering and analyzing relevant data to generate insights, identify trends, and support evidence-based decision-making at the executive level will also be key responsibilities.
