About the position

The Chief of Staff for the Camden City School District plays a pivotal role in supporting the Superintendent to achieve strategic goals and initiatives that enhance the educational experience for Camden students. This position involves project management, strategic planning, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the effective operation of the Superintendent's office and the successful implementation of district-wide initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee strategic cross-functional initiatives from conception through implementation to achieve district goals.
  • Lead the strategic planning process to translate the Superintendent's vision into measurable annual goals.
  • Develop policies and procedures to clarify systems and processes for the District, working with cross-functional teams.
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot significant issues, providing timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to manage urgent issues and work closely with executive divisions for effective solutions.
  • Plan and facilitate high-quality meetings and events, ensuring timely follow-up on action items.
  • Manage the Office of the Superintendent to align operations and communications with strategic vision.
  • Organize the Executive Leadership Team to address division operations and emergent issues.
  • Prepare agendas for critical meetings, including monthly Board meetings.
  • Enhance communications within and between schools and departments to support an effective work environment.
  • Recommend organizational structures and policies to cultivate a strong organizational culture and high staff performance.
  • Provide administrative oversight for senior-level reports requested by the Superintendent.
  • Advise the Superintendent on trends or problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze and manage sensitive issues in the Superintendent's office, ensuring proper handling to avoid serious consequences.
  • Serve as the key contact for CCSD staff, departments, and community members.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required.
  • Three years of experience working directly with superintendents, executive cabinet leaders, school board members, or community representatives preferred.
  • Experience in an urban school district preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in leading strategic educational initiatives.
  • Experience in coalition and relationship building across diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead significant cross-functional initiatives in complex organizational settings.
  • Thrives in an achievement-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license, current insurance, and vehicle with valid registration.
  • Required criminal history background check, physical, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
