About the position

The Chief of Staff for the Red Hat Experience Engineering team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and clear prioritization of tasks across the organization. This position serves as an extension of the VP of Experience Engineering, assisting in balancing priorities and maximizing the effectiveness of the leadership team. The Chief of Staff will also take on strategic projects to support the leadership team and must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and facilitate the cadence and content for the leadership team ensuring objectives are achieved and action items are executed
  • Help to strategically prioritize the VP's time by ensuring that necessary pre-meetings are conducted and the VP is informed and prepared as needed
  • Attend meeting calls on behalf/proxy of the VP as required
  • Evaluate opportunities and determine fit with priorities
  • Monitor information flow, acting as a gatekeeper to ensure VP's involvement in projects or decision-making processes at the right moment
  • Act as an advocate for the VP's colleagues, communicating their wants, needs, and concerns to leadership
  • Manage the organization's OKR (or other measurement/goal setting) program
  • Drive team strategic alignment by ensuring the organization's priorities are clearly communicated and all leaders are aligned
  • Prioritize leadership focus by identifying metrics for success and leading regular review progress evaluations
  • Create and maintain cross-departmental relationships to enable leadership success by assessing issues that may have cross-organization impact
  • Oversee large, cross-functional organization-wide projects or initiatives when required
  • Track budget and headcount, creating system processes to streamline operations and orchestrating special events when needed

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in the technology and customer experience industries
  • BS or BA degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., computer science, business administration, communications)
  • Experience with managing and driving critical, complex projects through project completion
  • Deep familiarity with highly technical and customer-facing team processes; understanding of the applicability of different skill methodologies
  • Expert ability to constructively discuss and gain consensus on critical and controversial topics with discretion and tact
  • Proven track record of effectively interacting with executive management teams
  • Expert oral and written communications skills that demonstrate professional demeanor and ability to partner with others
  • Effective interpersonal skills; solid presentation development and delivery skills
  • Ability to inspire, create relationships, and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels
  • Experience with budget management
  • Trustworthiness with high integrity and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality
  • Ability to manage a small team to support operational requirements of the organization
