About the position

The Chief of Staff of Strategic Initiatives at Georgetown University's Department of Planning and Facilities Management is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic guidance, project oversight, and executive support to enhance the university's growth and success. This position involves developing and implementing strategic plans that align with the university's mission, managing a diverse portfolio of facilities management, and fostering collaboration across various departments to drive innovation and sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and project oversight to support the university's growth and success.
  • Develop and implement visionary strategic plans aligned with the university's mission and goals.
  • Oversee the Planning and Facilities Management portfolio, including facilities management, custodial services, capital projects, engineering, environmental health and safety, transportation, and residential services.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to set priorities for campus development and communicate project details effectively.
  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals within the Planning and Facilities Management department.
  • Engage with local, state, and federal entities on services and projects impacting the community.
  • Prepare presentations and reports to communicate project progress and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities management, strategic planning, project management, or a related field, with at least five years in a senior-level role.
  • Proven track record of success in spearheading strategic initiatives and driving innovation in a higher education setting or similarly complex organization.
  • Experience in capital project development, implementation, and management.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at different levels.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts and budgeting principles.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management and process improvement with a collaborative leadership style.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education facilities management.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in campus development.
