This position is responsible for leading strategy development and executing high-priority objectives while advancing and coordinating the work of the dean's office to promote the School's priorities and academic mission. As a strategic advisor to the dean, the Chief of Staff prioritizes issues requiring the dean's attention and ensures timely execution on matters that advance the School's goals, objectives, and priorities. The Chief of Staff is tasked with ensuring that the dean is well-prepared for meetings, events, travel, and speaking opportunities. This includes making necessary linkages and following up on activities stemming from these engagements. As a member of the dean's leadership team, the Chief of Staff collaborates closely with the dean to manage commitments and deliverables, driving organizational progress and ensuring that critical meetings and events are designed to advance the School's priorities while maximizing the dean's limited time. Key responsibilities include coordinating with the Advancement office on fundraising strategies and goals, collaborating with the Executive Dean of Finance and Administration, the Academic Dean, and other leadership team members on managing the dean's office strategic budget and multi-year resource management. The Chief of Staff will lead high-priority requests from the dean, manage the Director of Dean's Initiatives, oversee the development of briefing memos and communication materials, lead special projects, manage decision-making about speaking engagements, and ensure the smooth operation of the dean's office. Additionally, the Chief of Staff serves as a liaison with academic and administrative leaders throughout Brown, ensuring the dean is well-informed about School of Public Health and University issues, providing accurate and objective information and perspectives.
