The Chief of Staff position at PG&E Corporation is a pivotal role within the Electric Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Engineering department, responsible for leading strategic planning and business management processes. This includes overseeing budgeting, communications, performance measurement, and continuous improvement programs for the Vice President of Electric T&D Engineering. The Chief of Staff will manage complex projects and key initiatives, ensuring that all strategic objectives are met effectively. This role requires a proactive approach to planning, coordinating, and shaping content for various meetings and communications, representing the Vice President in strategic planning processes and programs. In this hybrid position, the Chief of Staff will work from both a remote office and the assigned work location in Oakland, CA, based on business needs. The role demands a strong leader who can develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and Lean Operating Systems in collaboration with the Vice President's direct reports. The Chief of Staff will also facilitate various review meetings to ensure the effectiveness of organizational reviews and will be responsible for coordinating employee engagement programs and co-worker development initiatives. Additional responsibilities include the development and continuous improvement of strategic planning and business management processes, ensuring alignment with PG&E's mission and vision. The Chief of Staff will collaborate with various leaders to review budgetary requirements and support the achievement of strategic goals. This role also involves establishing governance, risk, and compliance processes for operational plans, as well as researching and analyzing inquiries to support decision-making actions. Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning and business management processes for the Vice President of Electric T&D Engineering.
  • Oversee complex projects and key initiatives within the department.
  • Plan, coordinate, and shape content for meetings and communications for the Vice President.
  • Represent the Vice President in various strategic planning processes and programs.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and Lean Operating Systems in collaboration with the VP's direct reports.
  • Facilitate DORs, WORs, and MORs to ensure effectiveness of reviews.
  • Coordinate employee engagement programs and co-worker development initiatives.
  • Manage ad hoc projects to support organizational needs with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure all strategic planning and business management processes align with PG&E's mission and vision.
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop and review budgetary requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of experience in business or job-related fields.
  • Desired Master's degree, MBA, or equivalent.
  • Experience in Resource Planning or related fields.
  • Experience in risk management, Utility Industry, or related fields.
  • Experience in Operational Planning.
  • Strong process understanding and experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to persuade and influence while being diplomatic.
  • Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications.
  • Competency in planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
  • Competency in solving complex problems with contradictory information.
  • Competency in providing direction and delegating effectively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
