The School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Chief of Staff to collaborate closely with the Dean on strategic initiatives and outcomes. This pivotal role involves working alongside the administrative and academic leadership of the school to execute and communicate the Dean's vision effectively. The Chief of Staff will maintain key relationships that are essential for influencing outcomes critical to the success of the School. This position requires a blend of strong organizational, operational, and management skills, including strategic planning, writing, project management, and coordination of various groups, as well as grant support. A Master's degree is desired, with a preference for a Master of Public Health (MPH). Experience in higher education, public health, or related organizations such as UPMC, particularly within an executive office, is highly preferred. In this role, the Chief of Staff will support and administer strategic initiatives for the executive leadership and the leadership of the school. This includes assisting in the development and facilitation of education-related goals, organizing and coordinating projects, and ensuring that project deliverables are met in a timely manner. The position demands excellent writing and verbal communication skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and a professional demeanor at all times. The Chief of Staff must be proficient in using a computer and the Microsoft Office suite, as work is frequently conducted via email, telephone, in-person meetings, or video communication technologies such as Zoom and Teams. Effective communication, both electronically and in person, is essential for success in this role.
