About the position

The Chief of Staff (CoS) at Lumen is a pivotal role designed to support the Senior Executive in executing defined priorities effectively. This position requires a motivated and adaptable individual who can act as a strategic advisor, problem solver, communicator, and facilitator within the organization. The CoS will work closely with the Senior Executive to identify key focus areas and streamline activities to enhance productivity and efficiency. This role is not just about managing tasks; it is about fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation across the organization. In this capacity, the Chief of Staff will also partner with the Executive Assistant to strategically manage the leader's time, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. The CoS will define and execute meeting agendas for direct and extended staff meetings, including town halls, all-hands meetings, management meetings, and one-on-one reviews. Preparation for external and significant internal meetings is crucial, and the CoS will ensure that the Executive is thoroughly prepared by managing necessary prep calls and consolidating prep information into a digestible format. Additionally, the Chief of Staff will collaborate with Human Resources on various aspects of people planning, including workforce planning, location strategy, organizational structure management, and people metrics. This role is essential in supporting the leader and the organization in achieving their goals and objectives, making it a vital and influential position within Lumen.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute direct and extended staff meeting agendas, including town halls, all hands meetings, management meetings, and 1 on 1 reviews.
  • Ensure the Executive is thoroughly prepared for all external and large internal meetings by managing necessary prep calls and consolidating prep information.
  • Partner with HR on people planning, including workforce planning, location strategy, organizational structure management, and people metrics.
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives as directed by the Senior Executive.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Chief of Staff or similar strategic role, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems creatively.
  • Experience in workforce planning and organizational structure management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the telecommunications or technology industry.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and metrics to support decision-making.
  • Previous experience working directly with senior executives or in a leadership capacity.
