About the position

State Senator Mark Walker is seeking a full-time Chief of Staff (CoS) for his district office in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The CoS will manage the district office and staff, assist the Senator with his legislative agenda, and serve as the main point of contact for constituents and stakeholders. The role requires strong project management and customer service skills, along with the ability to handle various responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the District Office and Staff, including overseeing operations and budget.
• Serve as the main point of contact for the office, planning meetings, and interacting with constituents.
• Contribute to in-district event planning and handle escalated constituent casework.
• Assist the Senator with legislative work, including compiling research and liaising with Springfield staff.
• Monitor legislative sessions to keep the Senator informed on important topics and happenings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least two years of experience with government affairs, preferably with the Illinois General Assembly.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects and people.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and flexibility in handling changing scenarios.
