About the position

The Chief of Staff at the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Chief Executive Office and Executive Operations. This position involves project management, strategic advising, and supporting the CEO and senior staff in achieving NKF's mission to combat kidney disease and improve patient care. The Chief of Staff will also manage Board initiatives, facilitate interdepartmental collaboration, and drive strategic planning efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the Chief Executive Office and Executive Operations.
  • Serve as a project manager and strategic advisor to the CEO's office.
  • Support the National Board of Directors and manage Senior Staff and CEO initiatives.
  • Execute National Board Meetings, including content development and logistics.
  • Keep Board and Committee meeting minutes and monitor Board initiatives.
  • Support governance initiatives, including affiliate relationship management and board member recruitment.
  • Provide research, document drafting, and review support for the CEO and senior staff.
  • Develop and collect content for the Town Hall series and other board engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support strategic planning decision-making processes.
  • Partner with Senior Staff to shape meeting agendas and track progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum eight years of related experience in the nonprofit sector, preferably in voluntary healthcare.
  • Experience working with volunteers and the board of directors.
  • Experience recruiting corporate sponsors and partners.
  • Exceptional project management experience and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated competence in planning, budgeting, forecasting, and volunteer motivation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization, and managerial skills.
  • Fluent in Word applications.
