About the position

The Chief of Staff position at GW MFA is a pivotal role within the senior leadership team, designed to work closely with the CEO and their direct reports to drive the organization’s strategic priorities and goals. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including the identification and management of special projects, supporting senior leadership in achieving organizational objectives, and serving as a key leader on complex matters and strategic decisions. The Chief of Staff will represent the organization across various platforms within the academic medical enterprise, ensuring that the mission and vision of GW MFA are effectively communicated and upheld. In this capacity, the Chief of Staff will take a leadership role in establishing teams to tackle key strategic operational issues and initiatives. This includes translating MFA’s strategic objectives into actionable operational plans that facilitate the achievement of goals. The role requires coordination and support for specific initiatives aimed at improving processes and services, enhancing organizational culture, and increasing efficiency in patient care delivery. The Chief of Staff will also be responsible for making data-driven recommendations to senior leadership, influencing the strategic direction of the organization through comprehensive analysis and executive summaries that inform strategy formulation and project implementation. Additionally, the Chief of Staff will develop comprehensive short- and long-term plans and strategies to enhance productivity and effectiveness within the organization. This includes crafting written communications, business plans, and executive-level presentations that leverage data-driven analysis and research to support decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Establish teams to address key strategic operational issues and initiatives within the academic medical enterprise.
  • Translate MFA strategic objectives into operational plans that facilitate achievement of goals.
  • Coordinate and support specific initiatives designed to improve processes and services, enhance culture, and increase efficiency in patient care.
  • Make recommendations to senior leadership to influence the strategic direction of the organization through data-driven analysis and executive summaries.
  • Develop comprehensive short- and long-term plans and strategies to enhance productivity and effectiveness through effective project management.
  • Create written communications, business plans, and executive-level presentations using data-driven analysis and research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 10 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Prior work experience in academic physician/medical enterprise organizations is preferred.
