About the position

The Chief of Staff at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) serves as a vital member of the President's Cabinet, directly reporting to the President of the College. This position is designed to facilitate the smooth operation of the Office of the President by addressing issues proactively and collaboratively before they escalate to the President. The Chief of Staff will oversee the Marketing department and the CSN Foundation, ensuring that institutional vision and strategy are effectively developed and implemented in alignment with the College's mission and goals. In this role, the Chief of Staff will act as a liaison between internal staff and external partners, guiding successful outcomes on various projects and initiatives. This includes monitoring and evaluating the impact of these initiatives and reporting progress directly to the President. The Chief of Staff will also assist executive officers with community initiatives and outreach, providing leadership and operational oversight to ensure that the College's objectives are met with integrity and effectiveness. The Chief of Staff is expected to possess a strong commitment to the College's mission, demonstrating leadership skills and the ability to foster relationships with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, and staff. This role requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of the college/university structure, policies, and practices. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the current applications associated with diversity and will contribute to creating an inclusive environment that supports student success.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the President's Cabinet, directly reporting to the President of the College.
  • Oversee the Marketing department and the CSN Foundation.
  • Collaborate with the President, Vice Presidents, and other officers to develop institutional vision and strategy.
  • Act as a liaison with internal staff and external partners to guide successful project outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of initiatives and report progress to the President.
  • Assist executive officers with community initiatives and outreach.
  • Provide leadership and operational oversight to the Office of the President.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6 years of comparable managerial experience in a college or university setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in report writing and data analysis skills.
  • Experience in project management, speech writing, planning, and presentations.
  • Knowledge of college/university structure, policies, and practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctoral degree or equivalent terminal degree.
  • 8 years of executive level managerial and supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience in campus operations, community engagement, and government affairs.
  • Familiarity with the CSN and Clark County environment.
