About the position

The Chief of Staff at SCAN Health Plan plays a pivotal role in managing the office of the assigned division, supporting the Executive/C-suite in executing division strategy and operations. This position serves as a strategic advisor, ensuring alignment among leaders on core tasks and messaging, while facilitating cross-departmental partnerships to drive strategic initiatives. The Chief of Staff is responsible for problem-solving, mediating disputes, and enhancing communication frameworks to connect the Executive/C-suite with stakeholders, ultimately contributing to the organization's mission of improving senior healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic initiatives aligned with Executive Leadership's mission requiring cross-department partnership.
  • Act as the point of contact for Executive Leadership to align senior leaders.
  • Guide leaders across departments to enhance decision-making processes for the Executive/C-suite.
  • Address business issues proactively before they reach the Executive/C-suite.
  • Support the Executive/C-suite in building relationships with employees, members, and community partners.
  • Provide a communication framework linking the Executive/C-suite with stakeholders.
  • Represent the Executive/C-suite at meetings and events.
  • Prepare and deliver communications on behalf of the Executive/C-suite.
  • Consult with senior leadership to prioritize business strategies.
  • Facilitate strategic planning and policy development processes.
  • Oversee research and analysis of business issues to support executive decision-making.
  • Manage cross-functional projects, bringing together stakeholders and resources to achieve results.
  • Advise the Executive/C-suite on significant business matters and opportunities.
  • Coordinate and perform special projects as needed.
  • Recruit, select, orient, and train staff, maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; Graduate or Advanced Degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Managed Care with increasing management responsibility in healthcare.
  • Demonstrated expertise in executive-level management and leadership.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities for short and long-range goals.
  • Excellent project management skills with experience in large or long-term projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with creative solutions for ambiguous issues.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of systems in a managed care setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare policy development.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in managed care.
