About the position

Lumen is seeking a Chief of Staff (CoS) who will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Executive in executing defined priorities. The CoS will act as a strategic advisor, problem solver, communicator, and facilitator within the organization. This position requires a motivated and adaptable individual who can help streamline activities and ensure that the Senior Executive is focused on the right areas. The CoS will work closely with the Executive Assistant to manage the leader's time effectively and align it with organizational priorities. The Chief of Staff will be responsible for defining and executing meeting agendas, ensuring the Executive is well-prepared for all significant meetings, and partnering with HR on workforce planning and organizational structure management. The CoS will lead or support strategic initiatives that span across various departments, identify and resolve conflicts, and provide coaching and guidance to the leader's direct reports. Additionally, the CoS will monitor the performance of the organization and coordinate employee recognition and culture efforts. This role is vital for fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in an operational role, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder management situations. A background in Business Operations, Business Transformation, or Management Consulting is preferred, along with advanced skills in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role and a Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute direct and extended staff meeting agendas, including town halls and management meetings.
  • Ensure the Executive is thoroughly prepared for all external and large internal meetings.
  • Partner with HR on workforce planning, location strategy, and organizational structure management.
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives and projects across the organization.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts affecting the leader's agenda.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to the leader's direct reports and other staff members.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and progress of the organization and the leader's goals.
  • Coordinate and manage organizational goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate employee recognition and culture efforts.
  • Partner with the Executive Assistant to align the Executive's time with internal and external priorities.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of success in an operational role where executive priorities are translated into actionable plans.
  • Executive presence and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder management situations.
  • Attention to detail across a broad range of contexts and topics.
  • Experience with Business Operations and Planning, Business Transformation, or Management Consulting is a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
