About the position

The Chief of Staff and Engagement Officer (COS) at Cabarrus County Schools is responsible for supporting the Superintendent in leadership and supervision of all school district matters. The COS acts as a liaison to the School Board and engages with the community, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. This role involves managing educational programs, coordinating district initiatives, and overseeing relationships with various stakeholders, including governmental and community agencies.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the Superintendent with leadership and supervision of school district matters.
• Engage with the community and serve as a liaison to the School Board.
• Manage and complete projects with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Advocate for internal and external stakeholders with other districts, state, and community agencies.
• Develop and implement leadership training and staff development as needed.
• Conduct evaluations of administrators as deemed by the Superintendent.
• Prepare weekly cabinet meeting agendas and reports for the Superintendent as requested.
• Lead strategic planning and continual improvement processes.
• Support the Superintendent in the general administrative operation of the school district.

Requirements

• Master's degree with coursework in policy, leadership, organizational development, or school administration.
• Minimum of five (5) years successful experience as a school administrator.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and establish effective working relationships.

Nice-to-haves

• Doctorate preferred.
• Experience in leading multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously.
• Experience in coalition and relationship building across diverse stakeholders.
