About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Chief of Staff in the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs (OCPA) within the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). OCPA is responsible for the NRO's internal and external corporate communications, including engagements with Congress, representatives of the print and televised media, and internal communications with the entirety of the NRO workforce. The Chief of Staff will play a crucial role in developing and executing legislative strategies to defend all aspects of the NRO's multi-billion dollar budget in support of defense and intelligence collection and operations. This position also involves maintaining close and ongoing strategic relationships with counterparts in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (USD(I)), the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Office of Budget & Management (OMB), mission partners, and industry representatives. As a member of the OCPA senior leadership (Top 4), the Chief of Staff will manage the business operations and integration of the OCPA in coordination with other OCPA leadership. This includes overseeing Human Resources, finance, taskers, and training. The role requires superior organizational, managerial, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to effectively manage the professional development of staff employees. The Chief of Staff will also need to demonstrate superior interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate, network, and communicate internally and externally at all levels. This position demands a high level of proficiency in working in a fast-paced, high-tempo office environment while managing multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Chief of Staff in the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs (OCPA) within the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).
