About the position

The Chief of Staff at Avantus will serve as a key liaison to the CEO, supporting various functions essential for the smooth operation of the executive office. This role demands a deep understanding of utility-scale solar operations, exceptional communication and analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Chief of Staff will be responsible for organizing meetings, preparing reports, and facilitating team collaboration on priority issues, all while ensuring high-quality work output.

Responsibilities

  • Convening and facilitating teams on priority issues in partnership with the CEO.
  • Preparing important documents for reports, meetings, presentations, and memos.
  • Assisting the CEO in preparing financial analyses for project decisions.
  • Arranging meetings and appointments, and updating records.
  • Conducting research and writing reports, or independently writing reports on behalf of upper-level management.
  • Drafting and formatting information for internal and external communications, including emails and presentations.
  • Acting as a liaison between the CEO, Senior Executives, and Leadership.
  • Coordinating schedules among executive team members and planning meeting logistics.
  • Participating in budget preparation and administration, monitoring and controlling expenditures.
  • Organizing, leading, and executing company projects outside regular duties.
  • Managing complex and sensitive professional planning projects, research, and analysis.
  • Organizing and planning department outings and events in conjunction with administration staff.
  • Assisting with other tasks or special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in solar operations.
  • Innovative and detail-oriented with experience in highly visible projects.
  • Capable of managing multiple high-priority assignments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with staff, officials, and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret research data and apply mathematical techniques in practical situations.
  • Reading comprehension to understand technical and legal materials.
  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
  • Ability to provide effective supervision and staff management.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and conduct in-person and virtual public participation activities, meetings, and hearings.
